Analisis Resepsi Khalayak Profesi Model dalam Film Pendek I Love Ana

Abstract

Anorexia is a psychological problem about weight obsession that is rarely known by
public. Anorexia also appears in the short movie “I Love Ana”. The audience especially the
modeling profession receives messages about anorexia in various ways. The purpose of this
research was to find out the reception of the modeling profession audience regarding anorexia in
the short movie "I Love Ana" using the audience reception analysis method. This research used
qualitative approach with descriptive type. This research used Stuart Hall's encoding-decoding
theory. There were five informants in this research consisting of two men and three women. The
results of this research indicate that each informant produces various interpretations of anorexia.
The researcher found that four informants belonged to the hegemony dominant position, it’s the
first, second, third and fifth informants. While the fourth informant lead to the position of the
opposition. In this case, the informant's experience of anorexia has important role in receiving
the message conveyed through the short movie "I Love Ana".
